Practical Info

Partnership with Parents: We take our role as your child’s carers seriously. We actively encourage parents to engage in discussion about the needs and development of the children on a daily basis. We value parents’ opinions and comments and indeed we regularly ask parents for feedback in the shape of questionnaires and we keep our comments box at the entrance to the nursery.
We hold a parents evening twice a year to allow for formal discussion about the development of the children.
We also hold a summer fayre in June/July that is a fun day for both the kids and adults alike.

Responsibility of Care: We try very hard to meet all our parents’ needs and we encourage parents to take an active role in the life of their children at nursery. We are very security conscious at Chantrey house and work within very clearly defined parameters of safety.

Our outside play area and garden are fully enclosed and no child will ever be outside without staff supervision.

Children will only be allowed to leave nursery with a person or persons known to the staff or with express written permission and password from the main guardian.

Parental Responsibility: Government legislation means that we cannot stop a parent collecting their child if their name is on the birth certificate of the child or they can prove that they were married to the other spouse at the time of birth. We can only withhold access if an injunction has been issued.

Nursery Grant: All children in England are entitled to 15 hours of nursery education per week starting from the term after their third (3rd) birthday. Forms to facilitate this are available from nursery and our staff can answer any questions you may have regarding this.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS): this is the system we use to plan, implement and observe activities that your children take part in every day. Although the titles have changed for this over the years the fundamentals of care, learning, play and enjoyment are very similar.

We also encourage parents to fill out observation sheets at home. This allows practitioners to discover even more about the children and we can input this learning within nursery planning.
